One of our youth answered last month’s question, “What is a Mature Disciple?” in part by saying that they take interest in the journey of others, seeking to mature their relationship with Christ.
School has started and with the arrival of Satellite High’s first home game, September 3, we have the opportunity to take interest in the journey of some of the youth in our community. While it is my first time to be here for 5th Quarter, I have heard enough from people in the community, not just the church, to know that it may just be one of the most important things we do with and for this community. There are five home games this year with five opportunities for us to have a positive impact upon the lives of the youth of Satellite Beach.
Are you bringing food supplies? Are you arriving early to set up or staying late to clean up? Are you manning the prayer table, or helping to serve or supervise during the 5th Quarter? If we are to be available to help bring about the change our logo constantly reminds us, we will need to be present in the lives of the students. We will also need to allow the power of Jesus’ love to work within us and through us in touching and transforming lives. We have to show up and be filled up with the presence of the power of Jesus’ love.

Doubles Beachside, on South Patrick Drive, is hosting us in the month of September. Ray Featherhoff, a member of our church, is the owner of Doubles, and he welcomes us to have dinner there, every Tuesday 5:00 p.m. to closing. Ray will give us 10% when you write SBUMC on the top of your bill. Thank you Ray, for being a supporter of SBUMC and our Dining Out Program that supports the Dream Kitchen account. This is our third year of operation, and we want to thank all of you who participate in this program for enabling us to raise approximately $11,000 towards the Family Life Center Dream Kitchen.

Farewell Message From Mike |

How can words alone ever express our thanks for nine years of prayers, support, generosity, faithfulness and ministry together? I believe there is no way they can carry enough meaning and enough of our heartfelt gratitude. However, thank you for your kind notes and your generous gifts; for the belly laughter on Sunday afternoon, June 13th, and above all, your friendship.
You will always be in our hearts and in our remembrance, as well as in our prayers. May the richest blessings of God’s unbounded grace be yours, now and forever!
Love,
Mike and Debbie (and family) |
