Our Pastor

Rev. Richard Jones
Senior Pastor
I greet you in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord! I am Richard A. Jones, the newly appointed clergy to Satellite Beach United Methodist Church. Since my family and I have lived in Satellite Beach for the past ten years, we feel a calling to this community. Living in the community we have seen how Satellite Beach UMC is central to the wellbeing of our city, and we are excited to be a part of that mission now.
I would like to share with you a little more about my faith journey and how I became a pastor. I was born in Peru to missionary parents and lived in Peru until I was four years old. We then moved to Miami because my father was given a multi-racial appointment to a church with three congregations and three pastors. One was Anglo, one was Hispanic, and one was African American. My early years understanding God’s love and grace was in this multi-cultural and multi-racial environment. It gave me a deep foundation for how God’s Kingdom was meant to look. I developed a deep calling to reflect God’s diverse love in everything I did. I went to Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore, KY, and graduated with my Master of Divinity in 2000. I left seminary with more than just a degree. I left married to Terri, the love of my life of 26 years. We have three wonderful daughters: Eliana, Jadyn, and Adriel.
I believe we are called to work together to reach our community and beyond with the love of Jesus. We need to work towards a unified mission, be a more impactful presence and work alongside others to strengthen our connection with our community with God’s love. My prayer is for us to seek how the
Spirit is moving to maximize our gifts and resources as we work together to reach people for Christ. I pray you will join me in discovering the Holy Spirit’s future for all of us.
In Christ’s Service,
Richard A. Jones, Pastor
